The job in Guam seems to have petered out, pun intended, so I am considering taking a new job in the states, but only a part time basis. I have applied for a state inspector position in Maryland. Here's the deal. In Maryland, it's illegal to sell condoms from vending machines with one exception: prophylactics may be dispensed from a vending machine only in places where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises. (is this a great country or what?) The "official" title of the job is "Peck......." Never mind!
Reminds me of story. When I served in the Army, once a month a doctor made the rounds of the barracks for what was euphemistically called a "short arm" inspection. After the inspection was completed I approached the doctor as he was leaving & asked if he got paid "piece work". He smiled & replied, "By the inch". Boy was he short changed by all the JP's (Jewish Personnel) in my company! I have a feeling this same guy might turn out to be my boss in Maryland.
