Being a long time collector of all sorts of things, including gaming material, I have seen this happen from one hobby to antoher, and in the end it is only the collector who can control what is issued at what price by deciding not to purchase any giving item. In the end, the market will correct itself. In the interm, some old collectors will drop out but also some new collectors will be gained.
Regardless of what you collect, it is indeed the rare collector who can either afford, in terms of time and / or money, to have "one" of everything in their collection.
If you do not collect LE's, while you may decry things such as this, it really does not affect you. If this and other items do not go over with the general public, there will be less and less in the future, and those that our out there now will over time become reasonably priced so even if you pass on it the first time, they may be available later at a discount.
It was not too long ago that "Silver Strikes" were all the rage, now they are hard to find. The public, and the collector is fickle indeed. Time, and tide will take its tole.
