FLORIDIAN CASINO "1" CHIP

FLORIDIAN CASINO - MIAMI BEACH - FLA004.001 - 1929

Al Capone and his partner controlled 25% of the
operation when this chips was ordered: 12/09/29

Four examples of this chip were located by me a few years ago and were part of a collection held by one family for many years.

On the day of delivery, one example was sold to Mark Lighterman. That example is on the front cover of Mark's book: "A Guide To Florida's Chips & Tokens."

At the Blast From The Past show in Biloxi, 1998, the second example was sold, and the sale was witnessed. That example sold for $1000.00.

A few months ago the third example was placed on Ebay for $2500.00, but didn't sell after several re-listings. Though I did receive a lot of Mickey Mouse trade offers, all were turned down. One person wrote me asking if I could do any better than the $2500.00 price, and my answer was a yes. I reduced the price to 88% and a check was in the mail in a few days for $2200.00. That person bought the chip!

In the very near future I'll attempt to sell the last of the four examples on either Ebay Auctions or in our club magazine

I've enjoyed having the chip in my collection and dsplaying it, but the time has come for me to pass it on for someone else to savor. Plus, I like the action.

Since the first Floridian "50" chips were located, I've publicized a copy of that chip on my business card and in several club magazine articles and ads.

The Floridian chip has also been published in collector magazines articles in the UK, France, Germany and Japan. Photos of the chips have been submitted to the antique trade in Cuba and most of the Caribbean.

With the exposure the Floridian chips had in the last several years, I believe if there were any other example of the Floridian "1" held by anyone, they would have come forward.

I consider this chip "extremely rare" and very desireable. I do not know of any other illegal chip that has ever sold at the level of the third example mentioned above.

I've illustrated both sides for examination.

If anyone should feel that there are "boxes and boxes" of this chip around, simply show me sufficient ecidence (the chips), and you will be awarded this chip free of charge.
