Hi John; In your post you stated, "two-hundred chips in a marketplace of over 6000+ collectors is nothing". I really don't wish to debate the source of your statisical "6000+" number, but do want to comment on your quote.
Seems to me that you may have left out an important word in your message. That word is "roulette" which should have followed "two-hundred" and before "chips". Two hundred "roulette chips" of the same color/design would most certainly have an effect on value. First of all, I'll concede (for now) your estimate of 6000+ collectors, but I'll dispute is that only a fraction of that arbitrary number are roulette collectors. John; I know that you are well aware of the boxes of Playboy roulette chips that surfaced in the marketplace a few years ago. In fact, I credit you with being the one who brought the hoard to most collector's attention. There is no denying that PB hoard injected into the marketplace had a tremendous impact on the value of ALL Playboy roulettes..... even those scarce to rare PB roulettes that are not available in ANY quantity, that were NOT discovered. All Playboy roulettes have become painted with the same brush. As a result, most are available for $10 or less .... some as low as $4-$5. These used to be relatively expensive chips ($35-$50). Many of these combinations of color/design chips do not exist by the boxful today ... and those that do exist in quantity are around three boxes (or 300 chips) of any given design/color. My personal opinion is that the boxes of Dunes roulette chips just unearthed will have a dampening effect on future sales of ALL these chips.
