I use Microsoft Internet Explorer - Don't know if this works the same with AOL or any other setup... I probably know less about computers than 95% of the folks on this board... I just know what works for me..

My most common mistake when I first tried to link was caused by the following....

The box that Greg has that follows the wording "Optional Link URL: "
ALREADY has ' http:// ' in the box. When you do a cut and paste... the
link that you did the cut and paste on ALSO ALREADY HAS the http:// on it.
It's probably going into the box twice. If it's on there twice, it won't
work.

(((( To get the web address, go the the web page you are interested in. At the top part of the page it should say "Address", followed by http://thechipb.hostme.com/yada yada yada.... Click your mouse once on this address. It should become highlighted (selected). Then while it is selected, press your keyboard keys "Ctrl AND C " AT THE SAME TIME. This will copy the address to your clipboard. (You WON'T see any of this happening on screen).

To paste this information into the box on Greg's board, first remove the http:// that is already in the box. then click within the box.. then press keyboard keys Ctrl and V AT THE SAME TIME!! This will paste the address into the optional URL link box.

So, I do a "full" 'COPY' from the web page address... then I go to Greg's
board and I DELETE the http:// that is already (automatically) entered in
the URL box. THEN, I do my paste into that box. That way I only get the
letters ' http:// ' ONCE at the beginning of the link.

Then in the second optional box you can put a few simple words describing
what the link is about.

I hope this helps... Please let me know if it doesn't, that will mean that I
did not describe it properly.

Probably someone else could describe the process better that I did...
