I think you'll find this practice at the casino reception quite common in Europe. Though side games as Boule (type of Roulette) and slots are open to the public without fees or examination, to enter actual gaming rooms, the registration is practice. I think you got taken with the "photo" part, though. <g> I know of some chip collectors that collect admission passes (pre-WWII). I sometimes wonder where someone starts looking for something like this. Isn't it kind of a nice feeling here in the USA where we are not asked to show our "papers" to anyone!!!! I was at the Florida Collectorama show with Mark one year and he found an old French pass.
