Q: WHY DO PEOPLE CHARGE SO MUCH?
A: Because people will pay that much.
I once thought as you do. Until a recent trip to the Horseshoe where I went to pick up the new 25¢ chips. I got about $2.00 worth of chips then I promptly dropped $100 on the craps table. Now to recover costs, I have to sell those chips for... $12.50 each. I've got a conscience so I only OVERCHARGE a little bit. ;-)
Any buyers out there. True there is hidden costs of retrieving/harvesting/stealing/buying chips from the casino cage, but is it worth the time, effort, cost, etc.?
If not, buy from Dave Harber at Cheques in the Mail or Andy Hughes. They have very resonable costs for current chips, they are both a pleasure to deal with, and they are one of the nicest people I've met in the hobby.
Last, if you don't like the prices, don't bid on the items. Complaining is not going to change anyones mind. Now if you really want a beef, try collecting and paying for obsoletes!
Remember, they're only pieces of clay... God, I hate this hobby. <g>
