Hello,
There is a problem, that a number of chippers have commented on to me, with BB postings that is easy to cure if the posters take a little time to think.
It has to do with the subject headings of both initial postings and replies. In both cases often the subject heading: (1) gives little clue to what the posting is about, or (2) is often a deliberate TEASE (like a TV commercial) to whet the viewers' curiosity. So the viewers waste time clicking and waiting to read things they will have no interest in. Besides wasting time, readers might become disgusted with the entire Bulletin Board and thus go to it less often, if at all.
I’ll illustrate with a “good” subject heading, which happens to be one of mine (sorry):
“MY LIST OF B.P.O.E.'s -- Want to buy/trade.”
I tried to summarize my message in the subject heading as best I could (maximum of 50 spaces allowed in title) to attract the audience I wanted, and so those who have no interest in BPOE’s or who have none to sell or trade COULD PASS UP THE POSTING AND GO ON TO THINGS THAT INTEREST THEM.
Finally, note these points:
(1) when you reply to a posting, you can (should) change the subject heading to summarize your message; and
(2) you don’t have to (shouldn’t) put/keep an irrelevant photo URL in the posting just because it automatically comes up. You could erase it. How many cyber bytes have you saved today?
