This is probably a simple question... but I am curious and I know there are some folks out here (Casino/Hotel employees, lawyers, etc) with the facts on this....
There was a "Notice" posted in the closet area of our room at the Orleans. A version of this notice is in every room we have stayed in. It indicates the check-out time for the room, and then goes on to list the per day room rate.
The card stated that the per day room rate for 2 persons in that Orleans Hotel room was $579. Now, they WERE nice rooms, but not THAT nice!! This is not unique to the Orleans. I have seen these cards for years with daily rates up to $1200.
Apparently, this posting is to comply with state law - so they can collect from deadbeats, etc. But why is the daily rate so inflated? I don't see how they could collect this high daily amount in court... since it would be fairly easy to demonstrate that no one else had been paying that inflated amount.
Can you educate me on this aspect of the law?
Thanks,
Steve Snowden
