Re: COTY/TOTY Voting - IT'S SIMPLE!

I keep hearing about "how costly it would get for the club if every member(2000+) were mailed the color flyer with the nominations on it and a voting ballot." I asked several threads ago why it couldn't be sent out in the next magazine after the nominating ballots. No one ever suggested why that wouldn't work. Someone else suggested voting at the convention. I could care less about Chuck and his tiger and his personal vendetta. But it seems to have turned this into a war instead of a dialog. I don't care all that much about COTY/TOTY, really. I doesn't put any more chips or money in my pocket. It's supposed to be fun.

What I do care about is an attitude that only serves to put people on different sides of a fence. When you make a rule that keeps a new member from participating in an event that hasn't taken place yet, you create an opportunity for hard feelings. When you create this two step process that prevents someone who didn't understand the consequences of not nominating from voting, it's exclusionary. I believe, whenever possible, we need to include as many members in fun club activities as possible. If the only way to conduct the voting is with a dedicated mailing, then I agree not to send it to all members. But if someone doesn't nominate a chip, for whatever reason, and there are some very legitimate reasons, but then makes a formal request to be allowed to vote and cannot, it's like the club saying f*** you.

Besides that, even if a person isn't the type that takes the effort to mail in nominations or ballots, they went to the trouble to join. I think it would be cool to see the 10 favorite chips in color in the magazine.
