Thanks (belated) for fun poker tourney

I spent a few extra days in LV, so I am just getting back to the BB’s. Had a great time at the convention, and enjoyed organizing and playing in the poker tournament, even though I finished well out of the money. Congratulations to Tony K. for winning!

Thanks to all who helped with making the tourney a reality, including Gene T., Travis L. and Andy H. Also a big thanks to Sunday Silverman who helped me with the sign-ups and collecting money. I think the Orleans poker room did a supurb job in juggling our tournament with their other activities, including adding a seventh table to seat the alternates. (Total of 70 players)

This may be old news on the BB, but for the record, we were able to accommodate all who wanted to play, just as Gene predicted. Sign-ups were open for prox. 3 1/2 hours, beginning at 1:00pm as advertised. We seated all alternates when it started at 10:00pm.

Hope we are able to do another tournament again next year, pending the selection of the convention location and timing, etc. Next year can be even bigger and better.

If you have a critique of this years’ tourney (liked or disliked) or have an idea for next year, send me an email anytime, and I will collect comments in a notebook (Emails please, as I don’t always get to the BB’s to read all the comments.) I doubt that we will start planning for a while, but if you have an idea or comment, jot it down while it’s fresh and send it to me. I can’t guarantee that we can use all comments, but will listen to all. Holding a tournament is contingent on approval through the new board, and the Convention chairman, and also contingent on the support of the casino’s poker room.

The idea for CC>CC tourney chips next time (to be sold in sets afterwards) is a good one, pending feasibility and cost considerations. It’s premature to consider until Convention chairman announces site for next year.

My preliminary critique: It ran pretty smoothly, all things considered. The "Consolation Chip Pool" and "Bounty Chips" could use more advance publicity and explanation next time (or else drop them?). Structure and payoff percentages OK with me, but open to comments from others. Too bad a few tourney chips "walked", though vast majority of players honored the no harvesting rule.

Email your comments if any. Thanks again for a fun event.
