....when Mr. Variety (Dick Covington) and I were at the Hard Rock cleaning the Hard Rock clock at the dice table, I noticed for the first time that the Hard Rock's chips are made by two different manufacturers!
The $5's are PaulSon chips, but the $25's (all three varieties on the tables - Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones and Billy Joel) are made by Atlantic Standard Molding. How can you tell? The ASM chips are brass-weighted - that is, you can see little "gold" flecks in the chip body. They're actually brass filings added to the clay/plastic mixture to add weight to the chip.
PaulSon doesn't make brass-weighted chips. They add weight to their chips by using lead powder, which OSHA prohibits in U.S. factories, which is why PaulSon chips are made in Mexico.
Wonder why all the Hard Rock chips aren't made by PaulSon.
