Steve,
I wasn't questioning the validity of your "Official" Nevada section. What I was guestioning was your "Official" Colorado section. If all that you relied on was a collection of a Nevada local without consulting (or buying the guides already written by Colorado experts), you missed the boat. The difference between Nevada and Colorado chips is Colorado is new to this decade. Numbers of chips made can be known. In many cases, the issue numbers a very small, tracable and correct information on what was available from a closed casino is accurate. The same can't be said for Nevada.
Show me a Nevada casino that was only open for two weeks. I can show you a couple from here. Show me a Nevada casino that is open under its original name but includes on the property 4 other small casinos that they folded into their casino. One exists today in Colorado.
My main problem with your book is the word "Official" in the title. IMO, if you had left that little word out of the title, moving into areas that you admit to having incomplete knowledge would be more palatable. The info that you have IS NOT the best available. Period.
You don't have to embarrass anyone. If your search for Colorado info went past Las Vegas, let me know via email. If I don't receive such an email, I can only conclude that you expected people to be clarvoiant (sp?), and send information without knowing that you and James were working on this "Official" guide. The 1st notice I saw of this work was an ad in the club magazine....
