MIKE MATHEWS - eBay ETHICS--EARLIER POST
In Response To: NEAT IVORIES ON eBay ()

I'm posting this response to Mike Mathews in a thread that frayed out earlier this week--I didn't see it. Mike asked if I would tell an eBay dealer that he is offering a chip at too low a price. Subject to one point to be made below, I don't because the market ordinarily will take care of the problem. If I see a chip that is opening for a $1 that I know to be worth $100--I'll just bid on it. I have yet to get that $100 chip for $1. But I will provide information to the dealer when he misdescribes a chip which has value;I'll also [stupidly, I admit] provide the dealer with info and bid on it; and finally I've posted good deals here--such as some illegals and ivories, which I then bid on. In each of these cases. I am hopeful that the good will I accumulate will help me with that dealer in making a private buy. For example, I just posted the French Ivory chips; told the dealer; got thanked and in an hour the price is out of my league. But just maybe that dealer will remember me if he gets something special down the line. Kinda diumb, I know. And don't ask me what happened when I told the Colorado lawyer about the Binion chips.
