Interesting...as I was reading the posts, I couldn't help but think of concert tickets. Somewhat the same situation really...just displace the entertainer with the chip/set. Sinatra was coming to town, you wanted to see him but the show was sold out. Options? Go to a broker who, by the way, held most of the tickets.
That practice continued until recently, when promoters began limiting the number of tickets one may purchase. To do so you have to pay in advance and a wrist band is sent in the mail. On the day the tickets go on sale, you show up with your wristband, identification & pick-up the tickets...case closed? No. Brokers/scalpers simply began hiring people to obtain the tickets for them.
The situation with LE chips will probably never reach the point where wristbands and other measures are required. But then again, fights in toy stores never used to happen either. It's all a matter of just how popular the hobby becomes...it would be nice if the powers that be figure it out now.
