While I am not certain if taking even money when the dealer has an ace showing against your blackjack is a good bet or not, it is not the same as taking insurance on any other hand. On other hands you stand to lose your insurance bet. Against your blackjack you always win - just not as much. I have read a few books that tell you to take the houses money any time they offer it. I try to play good basic strategy and can count cards but if the dealer hasn't hit the blackjack for the last 3 or 4 aces he has showing, I will take the even money. It seems to work for me<G>.
