Shiela, a serious answer to your question:
"Lap traders" is just an informal term meaning bring some chips (in a notebook, or binder or box, etc.) but only enough to juggle it on your lap and trade with others. In other words, don't bring a couple of suitcases filled with thousands of chips where you need a whole table to spread them out on. Save the suitcase quantities for the dealer tables in the convention hall.
