If you carried a copy of the GAMING TABLE with you, you'd have a better idea whether the chip was worth a dime or a dollar. Story: in Long Beach in '78 [I was not into Casino chips then]I found a bunch of hot stamp chips in a bucket--bought a bunch of them for 10 cents each; everyone of them turned out to be from a closed California casino or card club including three from the Clover Club in Hollywood that Gene Grossblatt said in an article a while back was one that Don't Call me Bugsy Seigel had an interest in. Now that I have a bit of knowledge and TGT, can't find a thing except home chips.
