It may not have been pure luck, Carl. One of the carad-counting strategies is to back count a table and sit down when the shoe is favorable. The moves you mentioned might be employed in a shoe rich in ten-cards. Splitting tens is not a dumb move if you know something about the cards remaining to be played.
