Bob, I know that you have put a lot of time and effort into your numbering
system. You have more problems than you realize. You are coding sequences
of chips, such as 2nd issue, 3rd issue, etc. This can not be done as there
are many missing links which will not fit when you try to insert them. Your
system would be better for coins or stamps since we know what was minted &
printed. No one knows all the chips that were made--new ones are going to
turn up. You want to use your system world-wide? Who knows even half of the
chips that were used in England, France or Argentina?
In my opinion, more books have to be written to cover the other jurisdictions.
Let each author use their own system as long as they work. No one wants to
use a long code such as you are proposing. If you could get by with the first
part of your code as you explained it, it still wouldn't work without adding
lots more to the code. How many Harrah's Casinos are there? Will be in the
future? How many $1 chips for each of the Harrah's? How many $1 Harrah's
may show up next month?
Howdy tried a system similar to yours. Nobody liked it. No matter what,we
are going to have to have to look up codes in books. Our hobby is too
complicated with too many unknowns for a system like this to be easy & fun
to work with. We will listen. We will give all of the systems a chance but
there are too many trees in this forest and too many types of trees.
