CC>CC Championship Poker Challenge
at the CC>CC Annual Convention
Orleans Hotel & Casino - Las Vegas
Thursday night, June 17, 1999 - 10:00pm
Orleans Poker Room
What/When/Where
A poker tournament for interested members and associate members of the CC>CC, to be conducted on Thursday night, June 17, the first full day of the convention.
Starts at 10:00pm in the Orleans Poker Room. Depending on the number of players, the tournament might last 3 hours or so. (Remember that the annual business meeting will be held at 7:30pm Thursday night. Also, additional scheduling in the Poker Room requires this 10:00pm start time.)
We hope this will be a fun tournament and an opportunity for chippers to get to know each other while playing a little poker. However, please note that the event is voluntary for club members and requires cash entry fees and buy-ins, just like other poker tournaments conducted in Las Vegas all the time.
Tournament Details
* Game: Hold'em (Limit)
* Entry fee: $10 (to Orleans Poker Room - for providing dealers & running the tournament)
* Initial buy-in: $20 (for 300 in tournament chips)
* Optional 1-time only re-buy: $20 (for 300 in tournament chips). Anytime during the first hour of play.
* Limits: Starts at "5 & 10 limit". Limits and blinds increased every 15 minutes of play. Incremental increases based on usual tournament structure at Orleans Poker Room.
* Seating capacity: Limited Seating available: 4 tables, with 10 players each, or 40 players total. If excess demand, Orleans may start waiting list or open additional tables if available, but no guarantees. Sign up early, on first come/first serve basis.
* Sign-ups: Beginning at 1:00pm Thursday (day of tournament) in the Orleans Poker Room. Sign-ups continue until tournament starts, on space available basis. Sign-up requires: (a) current membership or associate membership in CC>CC [No exceptions]; and (b) $10 entry fee and $20 initial buy-in (total $30) deposited with Poker Room at time of sign-up.
* No-shows: If you sign-up, your chips will be placed in the game at the start of the Tournament. Chips will be "blinded-off" as necessary until you arrive.
* Poker Rules: Standard Orleans Poker Room rules for this type of tournament will apply. Seat assignments, table combinations, etc. directed by standard Orleans procedures. Poker Room management decisions are final.
* Prize Pool & Distribution: All money from initial buy-ins and re-buys (but NOT entry fees) will form the prize pool. Number of paid winners determined by number of tables at start of tournament, on a "2 per table" basis. That is, if 2 tables start, then top 4 finalists receive share of prize pool; if 3 tables, then top 6 finalists paid; if 4 tables; then top 8 finalists paid; if 5 or more tables (if available), then maximum of top 10 places paid. Distribution of prize pool paid on declining percentage, with largest percentage going to 1st place finisher. Exact distribution to be announced at start of tournament, when number of tables known, but as example, a 4-table/8-place prize pool would be distributed as follows: 35%, 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%, 5%, 5% and 5%, for 1st through 8th places, respectively.
* Additional notes: It's customary, though not required, to toke the poker tournament dealers if you are a cash finisher. After all, they will have to listen to 3 hours of chip tales during the tournament!!
* Orleans NCV Tournament chips: We will be playing with the Orleans Poker Room tournament chips. As tempting as they may be for harvesting, these chips are not available for "walking". (I think they feed NCV chip harvesters to the Orleans gator, or worse, so be warned!!!)
CC>CC "Fun" Add-ons during the Poker Tournament
* First-place plaque: A special plaque is being made for presentation to 1st place finisher of this 1999 "CC>CC Championship Poker Challenge". (Courtesy of Travis Lewin and Andy Hughes)
* First-out booby prize: A "genuine" fantasy/faux/imitation Paulson store chip, plus a $2 roll of nickels will be awarded (just for fun) to the player who manages to bust-out of the tournament first! (Courtesy of Bob Pardue)
* Consolation chip pool (optional): Bring a trader chip or chips (valued at prox.$5 or so), and place it in the Consolation chip pool at the start of the tournament. Add your name to the list of Consolation pool participants. As players bust-out, consolation pool participants can select a chip of their choice from the consolation chip pool. (Note that the best chips will go to the early-outs, and the less desirable chips will go to the cash finishers.)
* Chip Bounties (optional): Any player can place a chip(s) bounty on the head of another player. When a player with bounties on his/her head is knocked out of the tournament, the bounty chips on that player's head are awarded to the player who knocked him/her out (i.e. won the pot). If there's more than one winner when bounty is at stake, bounty goes to high hand. Example: let's say you want to place an bounty on Gene T's head to give players additional incentive to knock this solid player out of the tournament. If/when Gene goes all-in and loses, the winner of that pot also wins the bounty chip(s) placed on Gene. However, if Gene finishes 1st in the tournament, he gets to keep all the bounty chips placed on him. To make it even more interesting, you may want to "personalize" your bounty chips; for example, placing "illegals" on Gene T.; NCV's on Jim P., etc., just as examples.
Let's have some fun at the 1999
CC>CC Championship Poker Challenge!
