Sheldon ----- I have been fairly active in chip "policing" on eBay. I do not, however, sell chips (on eBay or otherwise). I trade my duplicates with other collectors and bid on eBay lots which I find interesting. Fortunately, I have never had a bad experience with a lot on which I have bid and have made several new chipping friends through eBay purchases.
On those occasions when I do contact eBay sellers regarding what I believe to be false or misleading auction descriptions, I usually do not bid on the lots myself (did on one due to eBay's apparent policy that they will do nothing about false advertising unless it is the buyer complaining; got outbid, though). My primary purpose in intervening is to prevent dishonest (or uninformed) sellers from taking advantage (intentionally or not) of neophyte chip collectors.
As far as I know, others who are active in trying to police eBay sellers have the same motivation. ----- jim o\-S
