Archie,
I will even do one better than that. I will throw my name in the hat for Convention Chairman. My offer will be submitted the very first year that the Convention is held in Iowa! Seriously, we have some very well connected Poker people in LV. I would volunteer to be on a committee, and be in charge of sign ups and registration. I will run it just like a poker room does, cash entry fee's talk all others walk! No refunds, no shows blinded out!
I am considering a minor softening in my stance. Here is what I am considering.. I am not going to accept any more sign up requests after thursday night. However, at the convention I will continue to offer our services to the general membership. This includes "offline" members learning about the tourney for the first time, who cannot be at the 1:00 signup. These people even have less time to adjust schedules to allow themselves to be at the signup.
For the record I do not anticipate having more than 20 people to sign up. It is not my intention to fill up the tourney, only to allow everyone a fair chance (even those that cannot make the restrictive signup period).
I really hope Gene and Andy are right about getting everyone in. This then becomes a moot point, which no one would love more than me! (A bigger pot to win!).
Oh, by the way somewhere in this thread (the thread has gotten a tad long!) reference was assumed that my wife was going to sign everyone else up and had no intention of playing herself. This is far from the truth, she has every intention of playing.
Also, in my wifes battle with Jim P. for the first in line spot... Now, my wife does not claim to be Miss America, but I will bet that most of us "dirty old chippers" would rather behind her in line than gawking at Jim P.'s backside for a couple of hours!
OK Guys, last call for sign ups. Also, thanks to those that are thinking I am taking a little too much "heat" and have offered to stand in line to sign up a couple of members too.
Great Points by everyone, at least the people at the Orleans poker Room have an idea that we are serious about our poker, and are well aware that there is a great possibility that we will need more tables.
UPDATED SCENARIO: Cinderella Story! Steve Brock and his Wife Sandie.... Head to Head... Final Table. Andy, Gene, Travis, Jim P., all gone. Victims of the upstart Iowa pair. Sandie is oblivious to the cuts and abrasions suffered defending her number one spot in the line. Steve is still smarting from the tack placed on his chair by Archie when he advanced to the final table. The image fades... will have to update when my vision of the future returns.
One week to go!
