So you're suggesting Greg install an automated "quality detector" on this BBS? It needs to be able to tell the difference between quality and quantity. You really wouldn't want to encourage people to start saying "good post" in 25 words or more, now would you? And what about the short but sweet "China Club, Reno" to the wherezischipfrom question. Only 3 words, but exactly the right answer.
Maybe you're suggesting Greg rate content on a scale of 1 to 10 - he could put another little indicator next to the "views" counter. Sort of like a grading system for BBS posts. If you don't get a high enough grade, I suppose you could delete it and repost it, see if your grade goes up <g>!
I suppose the only fair way is a voting system. But then the most prolific voters would get in the top ten and squeeze out the guy with the highly rated post. Greg could put a voting box on each page, with votes not counting towards top ten post counts. But then you need a system so each voter only gets to cast one vote per post, and yet you may want to be able to vote anonymously, but then the poster could vote himself into the top ten...
Have I beat this to death yet, or was I simply getting in enough words to fool Greg's quality detector? You be the judge.
