Jim,
Jim, You and I are friends and this issue certainly is not going to change that. However, what I am proposing is completely within the stated rules. I understand some might think it is taking advantage of the rule. I don't see it that way.
You had mentioned that you don't want to deprive someone farther down the line a chance. Looking at it on a "closer to home basis", why don't you give up your table at the convention to someone on the waiting list? In fact there are many dealers that have more than one table, isn't this a little greedy when there are other members waiting for a table? Why should people that had a table last year be given preferential treatment over a newcommer? It is my understanding that anyone that has had a table gets one again, after that people that did not have tables would be "accomodated" on a space available basis. I really have no problem with this table arrangement, and think it is fair. The people that supported the show with a table in the past in the past, should be allowed to do so again. But to say that all are equal in all club manners, is living in a fantasy world. So, it is OK to discriminate against newcommers in regards to table availability, but we have to make sure we don't give the impression discriminating against "offline" chippers. I don't get it!
Anyway, my offer is open to any club member, regardless of years in the hobby, online or offline, man or woman, friend or not a friend. It is a convenience offer to keep us from having to take time away from the convention. AND is within the rules that were set forth.
One final question.... Do people that make it into the tournament this year, have prefered status next year? and will those that don't participate this year be allowed in on a "space available" basis next year? Just wondering if the club was going to be consistent on the equal opportunity issues?
