Dead Man's Hand

While viewing the "History of High Rollers" on the History channel today, they re-enacted the shooting of Wild Bill Hickok at the Old Saloon #10 in Deadwood. The Dead Man's hand is the poker hand that Wild Bill was holding when he was shot dead in the back of his head. There were a series of magazine articles, I believe in Gaming Times, on the history of the Dead Man's Hand about a year ago. It is well known that the Dead Man's hand is 2 pairs, black aces over black eights, but there is some speculation as to the 5th card. Well, according to the History channel, the fifth card was the nine of diamonds.
