Re: Roulette chip Question Greg or Bob Gabel

Paul, I don't usually collect roulettes; its tough enough keeping up with the other new chips, and I wouldn't want to stoop to the levels of the roulette "procurers" like Susong and others.<g> just kidding, guys!!
But, 2 or 3 years ago when Harrah's in AC released pretty new chipco roulettes, I did let myself go to hell and went full throttle in amassing a full set of 96 chips. There was a lot of trading going on at that time; I might have a stack of red sailboats and some other people have stacks of others, so you can see what developed. I often won at the table while allowing 20 chips to accidentally fall into my pocket. So, I would ask the dealer to pay me in regular house chips instead of my own roulette color, and that way might get away from the table with 20 "free" roulettes plus a profit.
On one particular Saturday during the height of everyone chasing the Harrah's
roulettes, I did get 11 different stacks the same day, before finally being "caught" by a pit person while trying to harvest the 12th stack. The game that some of us played was to get a stack, take it to the car, then go back to a different table. I often wondered if a garage camera had videos of me making about a dozen trips to my car in a 3 hour period! Some of us would even change the appearance, put on, or take off, a baseball cap, a jacket, etc.
It was fun and exciting, but I have since resisted any further attempts to harvest roulettes.
