Most of the high denomination chips you see at http://www.chipguide.com are borrowed and returned. Paul Hegge has a laptop and a scanner that he takes on "chip runs" with him. He routinely buys the chips, takes them to the car where he scans them and send the images to me. Then he takes the chips back inside and cashes them in.
An easy way to tell if I actually own the chip pictured at http://www.chipguide.com is to look at the color of the CG#. If it is black, it is mine, if it is red, it isn't.
