Hi Bob!
Far be it from me to answer for Janice.<g> Let's just say the answer is so simple anyone can state it.
No organization can allow individuals, be it Chapters and/or members to pick and choose the rules and regulations THEY wish to follow. We would have nothing but a mess!!! I believe you agree with me on that.
The National organization establishes via Constitution and Bylaws the rules and regulations involving local chapters. If individuals do not wish to follow those rules and regulations than they should be denied "official" status. There is also another avenue available, that is to CHANGE the rules via a proposed amendment to the Constitution.
It is also my opinion that the issue should be handled at the Chapter level. You state 90% of Colorado members are also members of our National Organization. What than is the problem in caring out the rules for the remaining 10%? Why is it such a problem???
Finally, if this issue is soooooo important to the Colorado chapter propose your change to the National Constitution and Live with the results of the vote. Follow the procedures for submitting your proposal, give the entire membership the opportunity to express opinions - let's vote and FINALLY be done with it!
See you at the convention - your friend, Jim
