NO PAINT CHIPS
In Response To: Antique Poker Chip Restoration ()

I learned from the master of chip restoration--clay and ivory, Kenny Craig, DMD. Unfortunately, though he has a computer that takes up half a bed room, he won't turn it on, if his kid isn't there. I think he doesn't know how. However, if you or anyone wants his address to ask questions about restoration, let me know.

You did a good job. I've done the same on some of my "seconds"--but not my firsts? Why not? Because I am a "purist" and just as some engraved chips were put out with paint some were sold without paint. Your chip [coded PA-JW "Home Sweet Home"], for example, comes in at least five colors [I have red, blue, white & yellow but I have seen a green] and at least the red, blue & white were also sold without paint. As a purist, I collect what we call "no paint" chips as well as those chips that were painted. I'm not sure why "no paint" chips were sold--maybe they were less expensive.
