Don't get me wrong, I love chips. However, I also see tokens as making a comeback (as collectibles & value wise) in the future. Just as tokens were employed to replace silver dollars, I see tokens being replaced at some point in the coming years. Alot of machines take alternate forms of payment already. If the published articles are accurate (gaming collectibles hot), then tokens would fall into that category too. When they're gone...they will not be forgotten.
I see chips as being around for some time to come. As a "person to person" form of currency, they would be retired only if they rid the casinos of human dealers...and when that transpires, I'll call it a day.
