As you may recall, in early September, EDDY CAMPIGLIA falsely charged me with unethical conduct because he alleged that I had interfered with an attempt by his son to buy a casino check. I have waited more than a month for James Campiglia's response and it finally came. I do not like posting this kind of material, but since I was the one ducking the brick and the charge could affect my relationships with persons out there who do not know me, I set forth below James' post, together with my review to him of what occurred. In short, James does not apologize nor admit that his father falsely charged me, but at least he has opened communications.

Hello Travis,
I am usually too busy too mess with
this computer talk. My fathers
actions are his. What he knows &
believes nobody can change, not even me,
his son! I don't know how this man from
NY who called us to tell us he was told
we are not honest came up with your
name! I don't recall doing much business
with you in the past & what others say
about other dealers in this hobby is
getting out of hand. The board being
created for ethical dealers should help
this hobby but I do realize most of the
trouble comes form non collector,
dealers, or people selling chips who get
into this to scam people. My offer of
$400 I believe would top any offer
another "dealer" would pay. I was told
the chip was in great shape so I wanted
this as a possible upgrade. The main
reason I deal in chips is to keep
upgrading my collection & of course
enjoy the hunt as well as the
negotiating & sell or trade to fellow
collectors. I was actually out of town
when all this took place & my mother
called to tell me of the talk on the
computer as she is the computer one in
the family who checks for chips & chip
stories which she thinks would be of
interest to me.
I also appreciate Paul Zindles nice
words of dealing with me
although it has been many years since I
believe we have done business. I believe
Paul came over to my house 10 years ago
when we were both beginning collectors.
Wow how time flies. Where will this
hobby be in another 10 years?
Sincerely,
James Campiglia

Thank you, James, for your very positive
response.
I am also in the dark as to the facts
that underlay the charge. Certainly, I
would not interfere in any other
person's sale [of course, if a chip
being offered to another was offered to
me, and particularly if I didn't know
who the other party was, I would be free
to make any offer] but that wasn't the
case here in any event. Your father's
wrath apparently concerned a Holiday
Queen chip which you were interesting in
buying.
The following are posts I received about
that chip and this is entire extent in
which I was involved. The posting is a
summation and response of an inquiry
that one Rob Bell made about a Holiday
Queen chip. I do not know Rob Bell and
have had no other contact from him about
this or any other transaction. I had no
other information about the Holiday
Queen chip other than as set forth in my
response. You will note that apparently
Rob Bell offered a Holiday Queen chip to
George Conrad who told him that it was
too expensive for him and gave Bell my
name. I didn't have enough information
about the chip from his description to
make any offer. You have to read this
from the bottom up: 1st Bell's post to
me; then my reply and then his
response--which was the last I heard
from him. At the time I read your
father's unfair, false and irresponsible
post on Greg's board I had not read
Bell's first post to me or if I had read
it, didn't put the two events together.

JAMES: That is the extent of my
involvement in this matter. As you can
see I did not in any way interfere with
your father's attempt to buy or sell
that chip. To this day, I do not know
who owned it; Bell claimed he was
brokering it for someone.
JAMES: In light of the above, I would
greatly appreciate it if you or your
mother would place an appropriate
retraction on Greg's board. Keep in mind
that Eddy's post was false and has left
me hanging out there. Fortunately, we
both have mutual friends who are
supporting you and me in this matter;
persons who know I would not do an
unethical act; and persons who know that
you wouldn't either. But there are many
out there who read those boards and
don't know either of us well and I need
to clear my name, just as you need to
demonstrate that you did not call me
dishonest.
In any event, I appreciate your
response. I hope we come out of this as
friends, casual though the relationship
may have been, and not enemies. I have
bought chips from you for years and hope
to continue to do so. I will say this,
you've certainly got a father who
supports you, right or wrong though he
may be.
Thanks, James.
