Re: HELP WANTED ON PRICING IN P.R. CHIP CATALOG

Hi Archie - My reasoning for not responding via e-mail regarding your request is only to share the following bit of information and thoughts with other collectors of Puerto Rico chips and tokens. I feel that being there is not that much of a turnover of Puerto Rico chips (such as Nevada and AC), it would be tough trying to institute a "comparison approach" to even attempt a somewhat complete price guide. Granted, most of the prices of the common material available on the market today is widely known and such pricing has been established through auctions and pricelists such as Rollins' and Carlo's and results of Gaming Archaeolgy sales, but when venturing out to price the early and rarer material would be just about impossible, as there has been very little exposure of these chips...especially when several pieces are only one or two of a kind known and never surface on the secondary market. My only suggestion would be to incorporate a "no market known" value on such material, unless, that is, you know at what levels the holders of this material are willing to sell at.

I know it's a tough task, otherwise you wouldn't be reaching out...but, personally, I wouldn't even attempt a price guide - as this seems to be the trend with the last two (one not yet completed) "specilty" chip and token books, of which one previously incorporated pricing.

Wish I could think of something else to suggest, Archie.

Be well,
JB
