Jim; You mentioned that the airlines are losing money??? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why. We spent literally all day at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on our last trip out west. Our flight out of Newark to Chicago to Las Vegas for the August CC&GTCC convention were so fully booked, Brenda and I took three voluntary bumps while at Chicago, plus an overnight hotel stay at 9 p.m. and $20 in food vouchers at the hotel; compliments of American Airlines. We were ahead $1,800 in travel vouchers for the three bumps (we never left the airport) before we even got to Vegas.... a day later.... and our original round trip flight out of Newark was paid for from voluntary bumps we took on the way to the 1997 convention last year! Is this any way to run an airline?? No wonder they are losing money! I'm not complaining mind you. I'm laughing all the way to the airport! <vbg> We'll be flying "free" again next year as well... and we will give up our seats over and over again if the opportunity presents itself once more. Archie
