Hi Rich; Your post reminds me of a fascinating book titled, "Prison Money" by Jerry Zara of Point Pleasant NJ. (Point Pleasant is the adjacent community next to Brick, NJ where I'm from). Jerry & I are both former Presidents of the Ocean County Coin Club. Jerry catalogs and illustrates litteraly hundreds of these items used for currency in prison. I don't recall if he has this particular chip currently under discussion listed, but he does list the Jailhouse Casino chip from Nevada. Many of the items in his book are very interesting, like the "bronzines" as prisoners term them. The inmates receive these bronze tokens for donating blood. The tokens are used, as you described, in the prison commisary for purchasing cigarettes, chewing gum, candy, etc.... and if you don't believe they are also used for gambling then my name is Bill Clinton. If anyone reading this post is a member of TAMS (Tokens & Medals Society) the book is available from the TAMS Library. I do know that the Georgia items you mentioned Rich, as well as North Carolina... and yes, even Sing Sing prison are mentioned in Zara's book. I wonder if Earl Donley collects any of these prison money items since he is a correctional officer in Clark County? Earl; are you out there "lurking"???? Archie
