In my opinion the occasional advertisement of a chip or chips for sale on the board is not a problem. In many instances it could be perceived as an "opportunity to own" that is being advertised.

On the other hand I think if someone abused the board by having little or no input except to try and peddle their chips, that would be another story. I think the other users of the board would soon make them aware that their behavior wasn't appropriate. Banner advertising is available on The Chip Board and the rest of the CyberGuide at a rate that is inexpensive enough that even the casual collector can afford to use it.
