I guess I'm still mystified about the problem with convention chips. There is already a chip which the Club sponsors, and of which enough are made for everyone. They are available for purchase at less than the cost of a $5 chip (is it $3 or $4?), and you can even get them after the convention is over. I think there's even a wooden nickel for the convention, if one chip is not enough for you.
The Orleans chips are supposed to be live chips made by the hotel that hosts our convention in honor of us meeting there. This is an entirely different thing. The Orleans chips should be just as hard or easy to get as any other casino chip. If they only want to make 500, that should be their decision (which will please those collectors and dealers that are clever enough to get them and watch the resale value go up). If they want to make 5000 of them and use them on the tables, that should be their choice too (which will please those who only want one and would like to get them while they play).
I don't see the need to change anything. We are supposed to be collectors of 'things used for gambling', not of 'things made for collecting'!
