The protest did go off as planned, but not too much of anything happened. According to the Miami Herald account, the revolutionaries were not allowed to dump their mixture of sand & seaweed into the intracoastal waterway. It is a crime to dump even "environmentally safe" material into any body of water. They were not allowed to set foot on the boat dock as they would be charged with trespassing. Big Gus watched the entire event while his crew counted up the daily receipts. As best as I could determine it was a big yawn. Earlier in the week the city commission gave Boulis the go ahead for a planned development near Hollywood beach. They stroke him & then they try to punish him! Politics in south Florida when reported in the newspaper, usually spills over into the comic section, where most of it belongs.
In a somewhat related development, the Miccosukee Indian tribe purchased 48 arces of property in Miami. They are working to complete their hotel, located far west of Miami, next door to their casino. No mention was made about the plans for the land deal. More news as it becomes available.
