Just received the August, 1998 issue of TAMS Journal (Token & Medal Society). On page 99 is a whole column about the club and our magazine. They cite an article written by club member Rober Pardue (our new club librarian) "Collecting Oversize Chips & Plaques". Another Pardue article, "Colecting Adventures Before CC>CC" in which "he reminiscences about the hobby of chip collecting prior to 1988, when the organizaton was formed. He points out that in the early 1980's the only source of information regarding chips was from dealers' price lists, and that the first books to be published on the subject were in the mid-1098's. Certainly this is a hobby that has undergone many dramatic changes since then!"
"Robert A. Ginsburg, who owns over ten thousand chips, expalins a "Universal Chip Numbering Systerm" he created to keep track of his extensive collection. His system was designed to be "easily computerized and capable of being easily sorted by several different criteria such as location, casino, denominatino, order of date of issue..."
"The Information Booth is a regular feature in which Michael Knapp provides information about unidentified chips submitted by members. He illustrates and discusses a variety of chips in his five page article."
"Membership news, members' advertisements, and many more articles round out the issue. Annual dues in Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club are $20. ($35 for foreign members). To join, or to obtain additional information about the organization, write CC>CC Membership Officer James Steffner, P.O. Box 368 Wellington, OH 44090."
Does this sound like a "secret organization"????? Archie
