We really agree on most of this, Allen. I think receiving $35 for chips that cost , at most $5, should be more than enough profit for the casino. (A little too much in my opinion, which is why I don't collect $25 chips.)
When I saw the 1/5/25 for $50 my reaction was to raise an eyebrow, decide 43% was still more markup than I wanted to pay, and move on.
Your web page is a valuable resource, especially to those of us that have not purchased all the price guides yet. I have lost a lot of bids that went above your guide prices as well, but having grown up around cattle auctions, I am not about to get caught up in "auction fever".
Thanks for understanding the pique of, and listening to the impressions of, someone who is newer to the game. I have heard privately from others who have had similar impressions. Maybe this discussion, and explanation, will keep them from getting turned off.
