Meeks Bay Resort (Lake Tahoe) Obsoletes

The Meeks Bay Resort is located on 50 acres of land directly on Lake Tahoe. It began
operations in the early 1920's. Over the years it hosted many famous (and not so famous)
guests. Illegal slot machines provided considerable revenue for the resort and its
employees until 1947.

From 1978 until December 31, 1997, the resort was privately leased. It was visited by
President Clinton and Vice-President Gore during the summer of 1997. When the lease
was again awarded, effective, January 1, 1998, the new leasee became the Washoe Indian
tribe.

During the 20 years from 1978 to 1997, resort guests known to the management often
held private poker games. A beautiful rack of five different denominations could be
"checked out," played with, and then returned. These chips were also used throughout
the resort to purchase goods or services. These chips are now available to the chip
collecting community. They will also appear as a Chips Off the Old Block September
special, priced as follows:$1 = $7; $2.50=$15; $5 =$12; $25 = $20; and $100 =$25.
A full set of all 5 chips is $49. The set can also be purchased in a very attractive display
holder for $59. Scans of the chips can be viewed at:

appreciated. Thanks!
