Just to follow up on your question, "how many of us on this board voted for this chip to be chip of the year?"

Don't know how many on this board voted, but anyone and everyone who sent in a nomination for a chip of the year received a ballot with color copies of the top ten nominees to vote for. The actual vote totals for all ten chips and eleven tokens will be published in this upcoming issue of the club magazine. But for purposes of discussion here, I can give you the following breakdown of the top three chips nominated.

Flamingo Hilton Labor Day; Grand Total 164 points, Breakdown as follows;

16 first place votes at 5 points each for a total of 80 points
16 second place votes at 3 points each for a total of 48 points
18 third place votes at 2 points each for a total of 36 points

Hard Rock Cafe 4th of July; Grand Total 143 points, Breakdown as follows;

18 first place votes at 5 points each for a total of 90 points
13 second place votes at 3 point each for a total of 39 points
7 third place votes at 2 points each for a total of 14 points

New York New York $10 Grand Opening; Grand Total 140 points, as follows;

12 first place votes at 5 points each for a total of 60 points
14 second place votes at 3 points each for a total of 42 points
19 third place votes at 2 points each for a total of 38 points

Over 100 club members cast ballots for the 1997 chip of the year. How many of the 100 who voted are on this BB, I don't know. As you can see, only 21 points separated the top two nominees and just 3 points separated the 2nd and 3rd spots. 50 club members voted for the Flamingo Hilton chip, with strong 1st, 2nd and 3rd place choices. 38 members voted for Hard Rock, which received the most first place votes, but very few 3rd place votes. While 45 members voted for New York New York, only 12 first place votes were received. With more input from more club members, the final results could have changed dramatically. Hopefully, next year we will see more support for this annual club activity. By the way, last place was Hard Rock Cafe's Fairway To Heaven with 45 grand total points. 4 first place; 3 second place; 8 third place.
