Rich,
I understand your point and don't consider you a "Cry Baby". I've always believed that the casino can do anything they want with "their" chips as they belong to them. However, I cannot understand the differing "RULES" they claim they have about the selling of them when they are still available at the cage. From reading the posts here on this board, it seems that the Orleans didn't really have a "RULE" as to the selling of these chips. They probably made up the rules as they went, probalby induced by someone who asked to buy every one they had. Maybe not.
I arrived at the Orleans the Sunday before the show, and forgot all about the usual Casino CC>CC chip when I remembered it I was out of luck even thinking about getting one at the cage. So I didn't mind paying the $7 I paid a dealer for it, as I am not a true chip collector.
As for the Chip of the year, those were probably all bought up by the dealers who attended the Laughlin show that week. And with such a LOW number available and honoring the Casino Collectible show on it, I would suspect that this chip has seen a fairly good sell over the past year since it was released. I suspect that many of the 750 chips that were made are already in collectors hands. A year of sells for this particular chip I do think should have found it's current market price. I would probably expect this chips price to rise even higher given now that it has the honor of being Chip of the Year.
Even if I were to see the chip selling for less in the future, because of the events that took place for me to purchase it I am very happy with the price I paid at the Convention.
No cry babies here just collectors with differing, opinions and points of view.
