PJS identified

Well, I just sent out the Houston Newsletter with a new column I call "Unidentified No More" in which I tell the identity of some of the chips I have found.

Here is the story of the PJS chips:

The initials stand for Peter J. Sullivan out of Saratoga Springs, New York. Sullivan owned Delmonticos restaurant - aka Riley's Lake House. I know of three chips which came from Riley's with the initials "RLH" with no denominations. I think these are either going to be roulette chips or predecessors to the PJS chips. In 1947, a raid on Riley's showed that there were two card tables set up. It stands to reason that these two tables probably are the ones mentioned on the PJS chips as "Table One" and "Table Two."

The chips come in (2) $1 yellow denoms and (2) $5 brown chips.

I would like to thank Bob Quackenbush for his assistance and research he has provided me over the years in the area of Saratoga Springs.
