I to have waited to see where this thread was going. I too have no real problem with the chips being bought up by anyone, AS LONG AS THEY ARE SOLD AT REASONABLE PRICES TO COLLECTORS.

I want to reiterate my past disgust at what happened back in 1995 with regard to the Colorado CC&GTCC chip that was created by Coyote Creek in response to their token winning Token of the year. Almost the very next day after their release, the chips were showing up on Prodigy for sell at $15.00 with NO TRADING involved by the person whom first posted the chip, and this was from club members.

Now I purchased my Orleans CC&GTCC chip from a dealer at the show for $7 and DO NOT have a problem with that purchase. As I do expect the dealers to make a profit on their purchases, but not at 200% over face value the next day.

Now, to show some interesting trends in collecting, the 1997 Chip of the year cost me $50.00 and this chip had a limited edition run of 750. Another happy purchase here as one dealer who only had one at $70.00 and didn't really want to sell it sent me to another dealer where I purchased the chip for less. I would have been happy with the $70.00 price since I had done so much dealing with him. Needless to say, that dealer will remain my dealer for future chips, even though my chipping days have virtually ended except for those special chips relating to the club.

Think we can get the Orleans to release a Silver Premium Gaming token honoring the club for next year's convention? Wonder how many members would be hogging the slot machine to get one. :>)
