Mel posted info on the new Hyatt Regency, Tahoe bi-metal core chips recently. I picked up a few of the new $2.50's from him at the show. Here is what they look like. Can you tell old from new?

The main difference, as Mel mentioned, is weight. You can heft the two and easily tell which is which. The metal cores appear to be identical. The one appearance difference is the surface of the edges. As the inset shows, the new ones have grooves running around the circumference of the chip. Mel told me why but I can't remember now.
