Paul -- you and Bob have hit the nail right on its proverbial head. Patience is by far the most important virtue in playing casino/cardroom poker. It is possible to win playing $4-8 Holdem (though the rake/drop makes it unlikely that you'll get rich doing it). Have to admit, though, that I don't get Omaha and after losing (quickly) both of the only two times I've played, I don't anymore.
I, too, keep good records and am overall ahead (though not as much as you appear to be). I once played $4-8 Holdem for three hours without making a single bet other than the blinds. Obviously, didn't win anything, but didn't lose much either. Then hit a good streak, won $300 in less than a half hour and cashed in.
I actually like playing in no-limit tournaments best of all. The plungers disappear pretty quickly and the play at the final table is usually pretty good (I always watch, even when I don't make it that far <g>). --- jim o\-S
