The set-up Question

After finally reading the whole thread about Roulette, I thought I'd mention a funny one. A bunch of guys sitting in the bar, shooting the usual El Toro, and one guy says, "When I'm playing 21 and I have a pair of tens or face cards, and the dealer is showing 3 through 6, I always split, so I can double my win."

Of course this starts the usual discussion. Never split Tens, only a 21 will beat it! Someone will always defend the split. Great fun.

But the catch was, this guy starts the debate, looks at his watch, takes the last sip of his beer and says. See ya guys, and walks out laughing! We been hooked!

With that, I recall a message stating what are the odds of rolling three dice, and having it come up one-one-one.

Well 1 in six on each of the dice, or about 1 in 216. Since this was used to defend the Roulette, repeat logic, the only fair logical analysis would be, that what are the odds of a casino with three roulette tables, having the same number come up on all three, at the same time.

Consecutive spins, will always be 1 in 38 for any particular number coming up. Even Matlock can't get you out of this math mess! If a casino gives you 1,000 for one, on your number coming up twice in a row, it's not really a good bet. They are taking about 30% on that one. Not to mention that it's not likely to happen more than once in every 1,444 spins. (Oh oh, I think I just stepped in something) LOL

OK I give! You are both (all) correct. We are talking apples and pineapples and the two won't grow from the same tree.
