I don't remember reading anything about the current status of the new casino being built on the site of the Hacienda. My prediction? TOAST! It will be torn down before interior construction is completed. The outer skin is complete, but windows have been popping out of the building. Word I heard when arriving in Vegas was the center of the structure had sunk 18 inches. That would explain a shift that'd be popping windows.

The real question, who will pay for it? I hope the city of Las Vegas is insured for such a disaster given that the city issued the building permit on that site for that structure, and they must take unstable ground conditions into account when issuing a building permit. I was told that the reason that the Luxor no longer has a working "Nile" interior ride and dried up their river was because they were sinking too. There is an underground river that makes the ground that these properties are built upon unstable. ...If I know it right, someone screwed up, or they got paid to do it on purpose
