Gene -- don't play video poker, either, for the same reason I don't play roulette/craps/slots/keno -- I understand basic probability and statistics and each of those games has a built in house edge which NO degree of skillful play can overcome. I play only table poker (hold 'em) and occasional blackjack. Skillful poker play provides a distinct statistical advantage (don't have to play against the house, either, except to overcome the drop/time charge). Skillful blackjack play can minimize the house advantage and skillful play plus counting can give the player a slight advantage over the long run (particularly in a single deck game with only a few players and a dealer who is willing to deal past the midpoint of the deck -- are there any games like that left?).
BTW, lack of understanding of true odds is one of the foundations on which the success of casinos is based!! ----- jim o\-S
